UNILAG Honours Toyin Falola with D.Litt.

At the grand finale of the 54th Convocation ceremonies today, the University of Lagos (UNILAG) conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Letters (D.Litt – Honoris Causa) upon Professor Toyin Falola, a distinguished scholar and historian.

Professor Toyin Falola expressed his deep gratitude and humility for the prestigious award. He acknowledged the privilege of being recognized by an institution of such esteemed repute and thanked the university for acknowledging his role in the African Renaissance. While speaking, he highlighted the transformative environment of the institution, emphasizing its role not just as a place of learning but as a hub for developing the mental abilities of future leaders.

The conferment of the Honorary Doctorate Degree was equally done on Professor Phyllis Kanki, a professor of immunology at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health in Boston, and Professor Attahiru Jega, a professor of
Political Science and former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
