In 1966,on crossing the San Francisco Bay Bridge, I saw the large, fantastic found object sculptures lining the shore. The images left in my mind of these works of detritus have never been forgotten, and when I began work in my studio the influence on me was profound. It satisfied a strong desire to 'rescue' interesting things that would go to the landfill otherwise. I've been making prize-winning art shown in the USA and Europe ever since.
